Shaper and surfer, Darren Dickson, has been shaping surfboards in Torquay for about 40 years. Shaping for Town and Country back in the day and working alongside shapers such as Freddy Mack, Geoff McCoy and Billy Tolhurst.  Dicko’s shaping style reflects classic outlines and traditional shaping techniques whilst staying contemporary and fresh for the modern day surfer.  Dicko and Zak Surfboards have collaborated to produce a range of performance twin fins that you can view online now.  Link in bio,  Stay tuned for more Dicko updates.

SINN TWINN

Up your wave count and score some fun waves with the new Sinn Twinn colab from Darren Dickson and Zak Surfboards. These channel bottom twins have a flatter rocker with extra width and thickness allowing you to paddle easier and get into waves sooner whilst still performing well on the wave giving you long drawn out turns with lots of speed and drive from the low, refined rails and speedy channel bottoms. These boards are great for people who aren't getting in the water often and want a fun board that they know they're going to catch waves on, or anyone downsizing from mid lengths and longboards as they are super easy to paddle. Pair with a pair of bigger twins, we recommend the MR TWINS.

Darron Dickson, Torquay shaper and collaborator of the new Zak Surfboards Sinn Twinns, offers nuggets of advice for surfers getting into shaping and established shapers on how to level up their designs. If you are just starting out, Dicko recommends to go and talk to old or established shapers, go and watch them shape and absorb their advice like a sponge and try out their techniques on your own designs, don’t be afraid to experiment and try out new things, you never know it may lead to a whole new model of board. He advises established shapers to check out new boards that are being released from the big brands to see what they are doing. Take inspiration from them and do your own version of it to keep your designs fresh and relevant for the modern day surfer whilst maintaining your own personal shaping style.
