We offer a comprehensive surfboard repair service for all different types of surfcraft and fibreglass. For all of our repairs, we use only the highest quality, high strength/lightweight materials available. Our repairs are done with the finest clear resins on the market, ensuring quality ding repairs. Our aim is to keep your board the same weight if possible and restore its overall strength.

(Please note: We can’t do quotes over the phone due to the subjective nature of describing repairs – simply bring your damaged equipment in store and we can do one for you on the spot)

Colour Matching & Pigment Fill

Pigment fill is usually recommended for coloured board repairs. We have extensive experience in colour matching boards. Wherever possible we add a resin-tint or pigment to the resin to achieve the desired colour. Pigment fill is usually recommended for coloured board repairs. A colour-matched pigment is used on the repaired area to closely match the original colour. This method ensures that if you resell or trade your board in, there are not going to be any nasty surprises hiding under coats of paint. With clear boards we can use this method too, however, as a board ages and yellows it becomes a more difficult and time-consuming process. In these cases, we tend to go by the motto “show your scars”. Please note that colour matching often takes a little longer and some colours – particularly bright fluorescent colours can be more difficult to match.

Surfboard Fin Box Repairs and Upgrades

We repair all fin systems – FCS and FCS II, Futures, single fin boxes, glass-ins and more. We can also replace / upgrade your old plugs if you can no longer find fins for them!

Gloss & Polish Finishes

We offer gloss and polish finishes when requested to have that board looking great. Final finish depends on the surface of your board.

 

 

Surfboard Pin Line Repairs

If you have a board with pin lines, we have you covered. Often rail dings will destroy those beautiful pin lines and they can definitely reduce the value of your board, or might just get annoyed every time you see that ding. We have been doing pin lines for as long as we have been in business and we can have your board looking like itself.

 

Surfboard Restorations

Got an old board that has sentimental value or just can’t part with an old gem? We offer restorations to get that classic sled back to its former glory.

 

 

PU (Polyurethane) & Epoxy Resin Surfboard Repairs

We offer repairs for all PU (Polyurethane) and epoxy resin boards as well as repairs for composite board constructions such as Tuflite, boards with carbon rails or inlays. We have worked extensively with all manner of PU and epoxy technologies including those from Firewire, Thunderbolt, Tuflite (Surftech) and Futureflex. Please be aware that we have implemented a $30 surcharge on all epoxy surfcraft owing to the cost of epoxy resin and the extra time required when working with epoxy.

If boards are surfed with cracks in them, or open dings/holes, they will get water-logged – increasing the boards weight, reducing flotation and eventually leading to de-lamination (separation of the fibreglass from the foam core).

Please do NOT use wax for a temporary fix on your cracks & dings. Wax “gums up” the ding and creates excess mess for the repair. Duct tape is a temporary “fix” on small dings and is far from 100% watertight. Solarez and Quick Fix products, essentially are only a quick fix and will eventually deteriorate, flake and crack. It is best to get your board professionally repaired with professional repair techniques.

We can very closely match most colours of your board. Due to variances in paint techniques, we cannot guarantee a perfect match every time – but 9/10 times we come very close. Colour matching starts at $20.

We are specialist in polyester (older style), Epoxy/EPS constructions (like Firewire, Slater Designs & Hayden shapes), soft fabrics and plastics. Quotes are only firm after the ding has been inspected by either our staff or one of our repairers.

WARRANTY AND GUARANTEE

We offer a 30 day repair warranty. The repair starts on the date of the pick-up and ends on the 30th day after the pick-up. This warranty is subject to the area repaired during normal use only. The repair warranty is applicable on all repairs unless verbally noted but is subject to Melbourne Board Repairs discretion.  The repair will be redone if the warranty is exercised.

Our work is guaranteed and is of the highest standard. Most repairs are completed in between 3 – 5 days, but a 24-hour turn-a-round service is also available by arrangement. We also offer insurance repairs and can restore that old classic that’s been sitting in the shed for years. Our restorations are done by some of the most skilled craftsmen in Victoria. Restoring old classics is an art form and needs an investment if time and tender loving care.
