How To Demo
1. Choose a demo product
Start with the demo surfboards or demo fins collection and open the product you want to book.
2. Select your rate
On the product page, choose Pool Demo, Day Demo, 2 Day Demo, or Weekly Demo. You can also choose premium fins, roof racks, and tie downs where available.
3. Reserve your dates
Checkout will collect the hire fee and refundable deposit to reserve the surfboard or fin for your chosen date.
4. Bring valid ID
The name used to reserve the demo must match a valid driver's licence or passport presented at pick up.

FAQs
How many boards are available?
There are over 100 demo boards available online. Availability is shown on each product page so you can see what is available before booking.
How long can I take a board for?
Demo bookings are available up to seven consecutive days per board. One board can be booked per person at a time.
What if I damage what I have demoed?
Returned demo gear is assessed by staff. If a surfboard is damaged while in your care, repair costs are charged to you. If it is broken or damaged beyond repair, the $195 deposit is not refunded and further replacement costs may apply under the demo terms.
What if I return a board late?
Late returns are charged a late return fee.
Can I take the board overseas?
No. Melbourne Surfboard Shop demo surfboards are for use within Australia only.
What if the board is stolen?
You are responsible for reporting the incident to police. The $195 deposit will not be refunded and further replacement charges may apply under the demo terms.
Do I need to bring fins, leash, wax or a bag?
No. Demo boards are supplied waxed and ready to go with basic plastic fins, a legrope, and a padded day-use cover. You can upgrade to premium fins during booking or use your own compatible fin set.
How long do deposit refunds take?
Once returned gear is checked, the refund process is started straight away. Refund timing depends on the payment provider, but usually takes 3-5 working days.
Do I need valid ID?
Yes. A valid driver's licence or passport is required during booking and must be presented at pick up. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must provide ID.
