Surfboard Courses
The Make Your Own Surfboard course runs at The Surfboard Studio in Preston for up to four people. Students shape and glass a board over two full-day sessions with equipment, materials, instruction, and guidance supplied.
Classes can usually be arranged on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, depending on instructor availability. Public holidays and December/January are generally unavailable.

Course Format
Two Full Days
Day One: Design & Shaping
Start with surfboard design, shaping bay setup, tools, bottom contours, rocker, deck, rails, fin placement, and how design choices affect performance.
Day Two: Glassing & Finishing
Move into glassing, cloth cutting, resin mixing, laminating, sanding, and pro-finishing. Optional logos, colour, resin tint, or fin setups can be discussed.

What The Fee Covers
Plain White Board
The course includes a shaped and glassed plain white board up to 6'8".
Thruster Setup
Standard fin setup is thruster with FCS II or Futures. Additional setups can be added as optional extras.
20% Off Accessories
Course graduates can receive 20% off selected Melbourne Surfboard Shop accessories on completion weekend, excluding watercraft.

Booking Request
Email info@thesurfboardstudio.com.au with suggested dates and as much detail as possible about the board you want to build. Once a booking is accepted, full payment is required.
Bookings should be made at least two weeks ahead so the studio can prepare a blank. Courses are run in Preston, about 10km from the Melbourne CBD.
