Keeping with the theme of protecting yourself from coral, it's always worth taking a pair of reef boots with you on your next surf trip, just in case. There is almost nothing worse than getting to your destination with the waves pumping and cutting your feet (or worse, getting a sea urchin spine in your foot) on the first day of a surf trip.
Obviously, no-one likes wearing booties, especially in warmer waters—but they might be a trip saver, at least until you figure out the topography of the reef. Cut feet will often mean you are off the board and out of the water for weeks. We have size runs of premium reef boots from Xcel, Rip Curl and O’Neill.
