Which thickness for men?

A 4/3 suits colder Victorian water, wind and longer sessions. A 3/2 suits milder water or surfers who prefer more shoulder movement.

How tight should it feel?

It should feel firm around the body with no loose lower back or neck gaps. You should still be able to breathe and paddle comfortably.

Chest zip or back zip?

Chest zip suits often feel warmer and more sealed. Back zip suits are simpler to get on and off.

When are springsuits useful?

Springsuits suit warmer weather, shorter surfs and beach days. They are not a replacement for a steamer in cold water.

What else should I buy?

For winter, check boots first. Gloves and hoods are useful for colder hands, wind chill or longer sessions.
