Do I need a tailpad?

Shortboards, fish and grovellers often use tailpads for grip and rear-foot reference. Longboards and softboards may not need one.

How many pieces should I choose?

3 piece pads are common. More pieces add fitting flexibility for wider or unusual tails.

Where should I place it?

Dry-fit first. The kick should sit close to the tail block or plug area so your back foot lands in the right place.

Can I put a tailpad over wax?

No. Clean the deck properly and apply to a dry, wax-free surface.

Tailpad adhesive is unforgiving. Dry-fit and clean the board before sticking the pad down.
